IMMD 2018 Sherpa

I arrived yesterday afternoon to support 6 of my teammates, 3 of which I have coached along the way.  Of course I had to get this photo so I can put it on my desk at work to motivate me for IM Eagleman 70.3 and IMMD 2019.  I will officially start my training on Monday.  If you see me out walking around, please don't hesitate to stop me and chat.

Training had to take a break for a bit after I kicked the curb and then the hurricane rolled through.  I somewhat got of for a few workout this week and this morning I had a breakthrough.  I ran a portion of the course and I don't know what I was think but I ran a whole mile without walking.  Yeah.  The best part is that it was virtually pain free.  It is dark out there in the early morning.  Hopefully for everyone that finishes after dark there is a little moonlight to help visibility.

I did take a photo this morning just outside of the Ironman Village with the road flooded under a few inches of water.  Hopefully this isn't the case during the run tomorrow.  Either way, you guys have done the hard work and now is the time to reap your reward.  Crush it.

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend.

I have been training pretty steady working out 6-days a week as 2 x strength training, 2 x bike, and 2 x "runs".  I was doing much more than that but I wanted to start getting a little more deliberate in my workouts and focus on form and strength.

I am still not swimming only because I don't like to swim and it hurts the knee.  I confirmed it on Labor Day as I was in the water with my Grandson and the kicking to stay afloat really aggravated the knee.  Of course I wasn't swimming freestyle. I was on my side ensuring he was okay (4yo).

Yesterday as I went out for my "run" as I stepped up over a curb my foot hit the front of it.  I felt a little twinge but didn't think anything about it at the time and I continued my workout with only 8 x 20 seconds of actual running.  Much less than I have done previously.  Last night my knee was really swollen and I could only attribute it to kicking the curb.  This morning it is still swollen, worse than normal.  Usually when it is swollen in the evening it is "normal" in the morning and I can continue my training.

A big shout out to David Boyer. Since starting my work with David, I have improved in all areas. I thought running two races in two days this weekend would be a challenge. David gave me a plan (which I tried to follow) and I actually felt stronger on day two on a longer more difficult course. But for some goggle/contact lens issues during the swim, I might have gotten on the podium. Still have a lot of work to do before IM Florida but this weekend has given me a boost in confidence. Thanks Coach!

...my coach David Boyer who is not only a Great coach, but a Godly person who texts me scriptures of encouragement at 4:30 in the morning before the race because he knows I've been up stressing about the swim! Thanks to you all I forever grateful!!!

Love Tri_More_Fitness coaching!!! just got an unexpected race day report breaking down the good, the not so good and the just plain ugly (ah, it wasn't that bad) LOVE getting great, solid, very detailed and constructive feedback. Totally looking forward to continuing to grow in the sport...so much room for growth and progress. My only problem is I want that progress like right now, immediately.
