Progress Feels So Good

It has been a week since I last provided an update.

My goals have slowly been met, no more narcotics as pain killers.  I am now only taking Tylenol as needed for pain.  Most of my pain is at night and during the day it is mostly a "stiff" feeling in the knee as I move around.  Stretching still sucks, pain can be pretty strong while trying to get to 120 degrees.  Some days I can get pretty close and other days I can barely get past 90 degrees.  It can be very frustrating.

I have been walking daily getting up to 1 mile per walk, most are at a 1/2 mile.  The Physical Therapist has me walking up stairs "normal", however I still come down one step at a time.  I have been working on standing on a stability cushion to help with my balance and control within my knee.  The stability cushion hurts when I try and stand without holding to a chair for stability.  My goal is to work up to 2 minutes without holding onto anything.

Friday the Physical Therapist will have me go for a walk without the cane.  I have walked short distances around the house without the cane.  Sometime I just forget the cane until I take a few steps.  But tomorrow will be a challenge to see how far she has me go without the cane.

Cycling has been getting easier.  I did raise my saddle an inch to make it easier and this morning I rode for 5 minutes.  I will gradually increase the length of time on the bike everyday.  I just want to make sure it doesn't cause any issues after the fact; don't want to increase too quickly.  The PT told me to let pain be my guide for how long to ride.

A big shout out to David Boyer. Since starting my work with David, I have improved in all areas. I thought running two races in two days this weekend would be a challenge. David gave me a plan (which I tried to follow) and I actually felt stronger on day two on a longer more difficult course. But for some goggle/contact lens issues during the swim, I might have gotten on the podium. Still have a lot of work to do before IM Florida but this weekend has given me a boost in confidence. Thanks Coach!

...my coach David Boyer who is not only a Great coach, but a Godly person who texts me scriptures of encouragement at 4:30 in the morning before the race because he knows I've been up stressing about the swim! Thanks to you all I forever grateful!!!

Love Tri_More_Fitness coaching!!! just got an unexpected race day report breaking down the good, the not so good and the just plain ugly (ah, it wasn't that bad) LOVE getting great, solid, very detailed and constructive feedback. Totally looking forward to continuing to grow in the sport...so much room for growth and progress. My only problem is I want that progress like right now, immediately.
