Another Major Step Forward

It has been 3 days since I have posted anything and a lot has happened.  I had my follow-up appointment with the surgeon and he was happy with my current progress.  They removed the glue strip and the incision loos pretty darn good.  I was definitely happy to be able to "wash" it some.

I had one of my longest walks of almost a half mile on the same day I had my follow-up with surgeon.  It felt good and I wanted to just keep walking, but I refrained from continuing on as to not over do it.

The in home physical therapist appointment yesterday went great.  I wanted to ask her about using the cane for short walks around the house.  As soon as she walked through the door the first thing she asked was if I had a cane.  We grabbed the cane and she wanted to see how well I could walk with it.  I walked across the living room and she said "Lets go outside for a walk."  Off we went for about a 3-400 yard walk.  I must say, that felt great.  She has me working on picking my foot up and placing it on the steps so I can strengthen my muscles so I can start walking up steps normal verses one step at a time.

Today will be my first day without Percocet so hopefully that all goes well so I can slowly get off the Tramadol after that.  I am feeling good with minimal pain.  I went for a walk this morning to and from my office with no issues whatsoever.

I am just amazed at how well the progress has gone thus far.  Medical technology has come a long way and it is hard to believe that in 12 days I am walking with just a cane.

A big shout out to David Boyer. Since starting my work with David, I have improved in all areas. I thought running two races in two days this weekend would be a challenge. David gave me a plan (which I tried to follow) and I actually felt stronger on day two on a longer more difficult course. But for some goggle/contact lens issues during the swim, I might have gotten on the podium. Still have a lot of work to do before IM Florida but this weekend has given me a boost in confidence. Thanks Coach!

...my coach David Boyer who is not only a Great coach, but a Godly person who texts me scriptures of encouragement at 4:30 in the morning before the race because he knows I've been up stressing about the swim! Thanks to you all I forever grateful!!!

Love Tri_More_Fitness coaching!!! just got an unexpected race day report breaking down the good, the not so good and the just plain ugly (ah, it wasn't that bad) LOVE getting great, solid, very detailed and constructive feedback. Totally looking forward to continuing to grow in the sport...so much room for growth and progress. My only problem is I want that progress like right now, immediately.
